About Me

You may have noticed from my homepage that I am laying on my Harley wearing and Ducati shirt. Hopefully, this gives you a sign of why I named the site MotoInsanity. I love motorcycles.

I have been riding since the age of six, giving me over 30 years of riding experience. Most of it has been extraordinary. I have had my bumps and bruises along the way of which you will hear about in different portions of the blog. Those bumps and bruises have come from bad habits which I am to correct.

I have owned several dirt bikes, ATVs, and street bikes through my 30+ years of riding motorcycle. It’s only recently that I have regained an interest in pursuing dirt bikes to spend time with my youngest daughter. She is six and is learning to ride an ATV. I’m interested tol see if her interest in motorcycles rivals mine. With her girly interest she is the prettiest princess I have ever seen on any motorcycle.

I hope to share my passion for motorcycles and its many forms with other riders. Through sharing this passion, I hope to improve only my riding skills, safety, and meet fellow riders.

Why A Safety Focus?

I have loved riding motorcycles from the beginning. It was a time for my sister and I to bond and spend time with dad.

The problem was not having safety as a priority while riding as a kid. We did not mandate wearing a helmet. My sister and I skated on a few accidents on dirt bikes and ATVs.

This streak of luck came to a screeching halt at 12. We were riding and playing a changed game of “ragtag.”

Being the youngest and having the slowest motorcycle, it was easy for people to catch me. Not wanting to get tagged, I was riding and looking backward (another dangerous habit) and hit an enormous pile of rocks.

I have memories of falling off the ATV and tumbling across the ground but have been told the bike did what they described as a “Dukes of Hazard” jump off the pile.

Again, I was lucky not to have been hurt worse than I was. A concussion was likely had since I did not go to the doctor. All I wanted to do was get back on the bike.

Kinda crazy right and another reason for the insanity part of the name.

After starting my family, I wanted to share my love for motorcycles with my family. The responsibility of earning an income and keeping my kids safe while riding hit me. It is the reason for focusing so much on safety.

From that moment on, I pledged to keep my head in a helmet and work on improving my riding skills.
